Marina ‘honoured’ by CIO award nomination

12 MAY 2021

Our Director of Digital and Information, Marina Bellini, has been nominated as a finalist for the 14th Annual MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award .

The award recognises Chief Information Officers (CIOs) who “lead their organisations to deliver exemplary levels of business value through innovative use of IT.”

Marina says she is honoured to have been nominated and that it is a recognition of BAT’s ongoing A Better Tomorrow transformation™.

She said: "This recognises the huge transformation underway at BAT to becoming a high growth, multi-category consumer goods business, with a purpose to reduce the health impact of our business, driven by meeting evolving consumer preferences.”

“A core part of this transformation is made by our Information & Digital Technology (IDT) team who lead our digital transformation by applying technology to unlock commercial value to the Group.”

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan CIO Symposium is a premier global conference that brings together a unique community of MIT academic leaders. The symposium is produced in association with MIT Sloan Boston and the main MIT Sloan School of Business Management.

After two rounds of extensive review, a panel of judges including CIOs, academic researchers and IT professionals selected the award finalists. The nominees had to have exhibited the key traits of a CIO leader in four areas: exceptional communicator, recognised IT leader, driver of business value and trusted partner.

Marina added: “For this nomination, I credit the work of our fantastic IDT teams around the world who are so passionate about, and dedicated to, delivering for the consumer and all internal and external stakeholders.”

“All of this is made possible through the strong partnerships we have with our colleagues across the different BAT functions and markets, and with our external partners, who inspire and join us each day, in our transformative work as we build A Better Tomorrow.”

The winner will be announced on a digital panel at The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium on May 18, 2021.
